The Persona Doll Intervention tool is a cloth doll used as a relatable intervention tool to teach young children emotional literacy tools. The children are typically aged between 3 to 8 years old and groups consist of four to six children. Through 30-minute sessions over about six weeks, the practitioner discusses various relatable themes with the children all with the purpose of helping them learn to understand and give name to theirs and others' feelings as well as how to adequately respond to feelings. It is also a useful space for children to be identified who may need further referrals. Useful for groups of children who may have experienced a traumatic event and need to work through it or just as a tool to help young children begin to learn about emotional literacy.
note: this is not a therapeutic intervention but can be used to refer for therapy if the need is identified.
